IELTS Task 1 - Writing Format Explained

As explained before, the ideal time to attempt Task 1 is around 18 minutes. Since Task 1 is worth 3 bands, it is important to be able to scan important details quickly and start writing!

• The general word limit is 150-180 words.
• We can write four to five paragraphs in the basic format.
• The first paragraph is the Introduction to the question.
• The second and third paragraphs are where we make the relevant comparisons.
• The fourth or final paragraph is an overview of the complete graph, a.k.a the conclusion.
